At certain stages — when opening a Qonto account or when asked to re-verify your identity as an existing customer — you'll need to complete identity verification. The KYC reminder lets you schedule this step for a more convenient time, directly in your phone's native calendar app.
This feature is available 📱 on iOS and Android for already-registered companies, across all markets.
Why do I need to complete identity verification?
Qonto is a regulated financial institution. As required by law, we must verify the identity of every account holder — both when opening an account and periodically for existing customers.
This process is called KYC (Know Your Customer) and ensures secure access to core features such as payments, transfers, and card issuance.
What do I need before starting identity verification?
Before beginning, make sure you have the following ready:
- Valid government-issued photo ID: A national ID card or passport are both accepted.
- Good lighting: You'll need to complete a selfie step, so find a well-lit spot.
- A few minutes: The full verification process typically takes 5–10 minutes.
How do I set a reminder?
If you're not ready to verify right away, you can schedule a reminder directly from the app:
- On the identity verification screen in the Qonto app, tap "I'll do it later".
- Choose a date and time that works for you — the default suggestion is tomorrow at 7:00 PM.
- Tap "Add to my calendar". A pre-filled event is instantly added to your phone's native calendar app.
☝️ We recommend choosing a time when you have 10–15 minutes free and your ID documents are handy.
What does the calendar reminder include?
The event is pre-filled with everything you need to get started:
- Title: "Complete identity verification on Qonto"
- Duration: 30 minutes
- A direct deep link: Tapping the link in the event takes you straight back to the verification screen in the Qonto app, exactly where you left off.
Can I change or cancel the reminder?
Once added, the event lives in your phone's standard calendar app (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Samsung Calendar, etc.), so you can edit or delete it at any time directly from your calendar — no action needed inside Qonto.
What if I want to verify now, or if I miss my scheduled time?
You can start verification at any time, regardless of any reminder you've set. Simply open the Qonto app, navigate to the identity verification screen from your home screen, and tap "Start verification".
If you miss your scheduled reminder, don't worry — your account remains accessible. You have two options:
- Reschedule: Edit the calendar event to a new date and time that works for you.
- Start directly: Open the Qonto app and begin verification whenever you're ready.
